Shaoxing customs officials said that by April this year, the India government imposed tariffs on raw cotton exports and suspended cotton export registration. This year, from 4 to June, Shaoxing cotton monthly import stopped, and for 3 consecutive months there was no cotton imports.

The suspension of India's cotton exports has made Shaoxing's already tense cotton supply worse.

However, according to the Pakistan business chronicle, citing the announcement of the India government in August 18th, the India government will cancel the cotton export license system and replace it with export registration procedures. The new policy will take effect from October 1st this year.
