Wu Haiyan: the pformation of a fashion designer

Wu Haiyan's artistic achievements: he graduated from the Department of Arts and crafts of The China Academy of Art in 1984. He is currently an academic member of the Academy of fine arts and deputy director of design department.

The "ancient feelings" was awarded the first prize of the first national costume design and painting competition in 1992.

"Heyday" was the only gold award of the first China International Youth costume designer competition in 1993, and was collected by the China Fashion Art Museum.

The "Ninth points" won the gold medal of the 1999 National Art Exhibition.

In 1995 and 1997, it was elected the first and second top ten fashion designers in China.

With numerous award-winning works, Wu Haiyan walked from the West Lake to the stage center of Chinese fashion design art and produced a "Chinese melody" on the world T flyover.

The spotlight of honor has been following her.

17 years of art experience, Wu Haiyan summed it up as "life changing".

- rise

Wu Haiyan's works are permeated with a strong "national complex".

Her love for national culture can be traced back to her schooldays.

In the summer of her junior year, she came to Dunhuang.

At the end of the desert, Wu Haiyan is deeply shocked by the colorful costumes of the Chinese nation displayed in a Dunhuang murals. She finds the source of artistic life: our costume design only delivers the essence of Chinese culture in order to charm the world stage.

Wu Haiyan began to consciously "accumulate" elements of traditional Chinese clothing.

The first appearance of flying was the first China International Youth costume designer competition in 1993.

She won the only gold medal in the contest, and was honored by the China Fashion Art Museum.

The personal brilliance of the stage did not satisfy Wu Haiyan. She said that China needed a large number of fashion designers.

Compared with personal creation, she pays more attention to the inheritance of clothing art.

In the early 1980s, Chinese clothing enterprises sprouted everywhere, but clothing education lagged far behind.

Wu Haiyan came to the stage without a Chinese textbook.

"Our generation is destined to be a road paving stone."

She said so.

Over the past 17 years, Wu Haiyan has undertaken heavy teaching tasks.

In addition, her clothing design company has also become a postgraduate experimental base.

She also led graduates to create creative fabrics and participate in the planning of static fashion trends. Last year, more than 300 popular patterns were launched, and this year's target is 1000.

- turn

From the accumulation of national elements to the integration of ethnic customs, fashion and personality, Wu Haiyan has gone through the turning point of art.

She knows that art needs innovation, and that eating is not enough.

The art of dress in China should go to the world, and it needs to melt and rebuild the national culture and international fashion, and create a unique "me".

In 1997, China's first clothing design exposition, Wu Haiyan's 12 series and 300 silk fashion, attracted foreign experts exclaimed: "this performance is intact to Milan and Paris are absolutely first-class."

- Harmony

Wu Haiyan constantly absorbs the nourishment of eastern and Western cultures and diligently explores in the field of fashion design. All efforts make a goal, which is expected to contribute to the rise of the Chinese national garment industry.

One thing has hurt Wu Haiyan's heart.

In 1996, she went to Japan to attend the fashion festival, and found that many designers in Asia and Europe liked Chinese silk fabrics. However, most of China's own silk dresses were sold on the stalls there.

This makes the heart of silk loving Wu Haiyan feel that the fashion design will eventually come into life from the stage.

She refused the invitation of millions of annual salary of foreign clothing merchants, and came to the domestic silk group as the chief fashion designer, and was determined to launch the high-end silk brand belonging to China.

Today, she designs 7 series of 100 silk garments, which sell well both at home and abroad.

Now she is beginning to prepare a new personal fashion conference, "the country of the century": in the misty rain of the south of the Yangtze River, to the Chinese and foreign guests to show the unique charm of the silk in the south of the Yangtze River...
