City

Li Sicen, born in 1952, graduated from the Electrical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University. He obtained master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

He has been an associate professor of electrical engineering of National Taiwan University and Dean of National Taiwan University.

He mainly studied semiconductors. He was a scholar of early research on amorphous silicon in Taiwan area and a member of the International Institute of electrical and electronic engineering.

Since 2005, he has been president of National Taiwan University.

Cities have always been mixed up in the development of human history.

People are no longer subject to nature because of the establishment of cities, but at the same time they gradually lose touch with nature.

Therefore, the consequence of paradoxes is that people's autonomy due to the expansion of the city actually eliminates human autonomy day by day.

In such a contradictory relationship, it is the most important mission for our generation to turn the urban life that has gone on the way back to the center of development which is centered on the development and nature, science and technology and humanities, instead of sacrificing nature, other human beings and human beings.

World Expo, Shanghai, with the theme of "Better City, better life", is echoing this contemporary concern, with more advanced technology, improving the drawbacks brought by science and technology for mankind. With a more progressive concept, it saves the endgame caused by the development of "progress" and leads the human beings back to the natural embrace with the reinvention of the city.

All this is not achieved overnight, but it requires mankind to work together and work hard for a long time.

World Expo is a rare opportunity for global cooperation and global education.

And Shanghai can host such far-reaching activities with such a progressive spindle. It also means that Shanghai is brave enough to face challenges from cities and bear global responsibilities.

I believe that under the leadership of World Expo, Shanghai, China will gradually become a paradise of progressive ideas from a fertile land of material production.
