According to the consumer monitoring survey, 3156 netizens from mainland China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand were surveyed, of which about 1/3 (32%) said they had been shopping overseas websites in the past year.

The survey also shows that Internet users in six Asian emerging markets are keen to buy their favorite fashion items from overseas shopping websites, especially the latest clothing and cosmetics.


Clothing and shoes (25%) are the most popular.

Followed by cosmetics and perfume (18%), air tickets (18%) and books (14%).

Among the Internet users who had experienced overseas website shopping, 34% chose overseas online shopping because they felt that the products offered by these websites were more abundant; 31% felt that the goods they needed to buy were cheaper at those overseas websites; 25% thought the websites offered more discount.


A similar survey released by MasterCard at the same time said: Mainland Chinese consumers online shopping occupies the three places of the two sides, of which 84% of respondents use online shopping as the main purpose of their Internet access.


Visa surveyed 3156 Internet users in mainland China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China Taiwan and Thailand. About 32% of respondents said they had shoped in overseas websites in the past year, clothing and shoes were the most popular products, followed by cosmetics.


According to Visa survey, except for mainland China's preferred shopping websites in Hongkong, American shopping websites have the highest share of cross-border businesses in all the surveyed markets.

90% of the respondents to the six big markets who visited overseas websites in the past year said they had at least one experience of shopping from the US website.


Among Chinese netizens surveyed by MasterCard, 25 to 34 age consumers and women.

Consumer

It is the main force of online shopping.

Over 2/3 of mainland Chinese respondents said price and quality were the most concerned factors of online shoppers.

Survey and show that online shopping has increasingly become one of the most popular shopping ways for consumers across the three sides.


According to MasterCard survey, from June 2010 to September, mainland Chinese consumers purchased 5.6 items online, slightly higher than those in Taiwan (4.1) and Hongkong (4.3) in China, while the frequency of online shopping in mainland China also increased from 4.4 times in 2009 to 5.3 times in this survey.
