The conference is supported by the three party committee of the clothing and textile industry. For the development of domestic garment enterprises, the conference will formulate and adopt a labor social responsibility plan similar to the "better working plan" of the ILO.
Philippines's clothing industry leaders and trade unions are very keen on cooperation. They want to do their best to push the US Congress through the "save our industrial law", which aims to revive the clothing and textile industries in Philippines and the United States.
Earlier, Thelma Dumpit-Murillo, director of the clothing and Textile Industry Development Office (GTIDO), once said that the US authorities had said that Philippines's labour and intellectual property rights problems hinder the adoption of the proposed "rescue law" draft at an early date.
