The Federation made the decision after the state government announced a government order, namely, levying textiles from July 11th.

B Malleshwar Reddy, the vice president of the State Textile Association and the convener of the VAT conference, said that the government did not consider the interests of textile traders before issuing the order.

He explained that before the announcement of the government's order, the state government had listened to the views of the textile traders, but did not wait for the association to reach an agreement on this issue and announced the order.

In Orissa, only 10 days after the textile traders staged a protest, the government reduced the value added tax.
