The European Commission Decided To Launch Anti-Dumping Review On Chinese Shoe Products.

Xinhua Brussels, October 3 (reporter Shang Jun) the European Commission recently decided to carry out anti-dumping review on leather shoes imported from China and Vietnam to decide whether to extend anti-dumping measures, but the anti-dumping duty is still applicable during the review period.

2, the European Commission issued a statement saying that in view of the importance of the case, the European Commission would complete the relevant investigation procedures as soon as possible, and said that if possible, the time needed would be less than 12 months to 15 months normally required.

In order to protect the interests of some footwear enterprises in southern European countries, the EU has imposed a 16.5% anti-dumping duty on Chinese leather shoes and children's shoes for a two-year period since October 7, 2006.

The anti-dumping case of Chinese leather shoes has always been controversial within the European Union. In that year, almost 27 EU member states were divided into two camps.

In a recent non binding internal vote on the case, 15 member States opposed the extension of anti-dumping duties, and 12 member states supported it.

The European shoe manufacturers and retailers who have pferred production to China will not oppose the EU's restrictions on Chinese leather shoes.

They believe that this practice has raised the prices of related products in the EU market, thereby harming the interests of consumers.

The European Commission acknowledges that the review is not in line with the mainstream opinions of EU Member States.
