The Australian government has urged small businesses in textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) industries to apply for the latest TCF small business innovation development fund subsidy scheme up to 2 million 500 thousand Australian dollars (US $1 million 600 thousand).

Small businesses can apply for a subsidy of $50 thousand per project through the Australian government's plan.

(Ministerfor Innovation, Industry, Science and Research) Kim Carr, the Australian government, said that the subsidy scheme is to promote the competitiveness of small business designers and manufacturers in their domestic and overseas markets, and to improve their business models in a more difficult market environment.

The Australian textile, clothing and footwear industry provides more than 48000 jobs in the country, creating an export amount of 1 billion 600 million Australian dollars, contributing 2 billion 800 million Australian dollars a year to Australia's economy.

(I) the deadline for application of the latest development fund is until February 27, 2009.
