The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) of Pakistan called on the government to change its traditional strategy of "facing the West and Europe, promoting trade and exports" and turning its attention to China, because China will bring more business and economic benefits to Pakistan. "Chamber"

Shakeel Munir, executive chairman of the Federation, said that bilateral trade between India and China had exceeded $65 billion in 2013, while trade between China and Pakistan was still between 10 billion and 12 billion dollars.

China and Pakistan have signed the free trade agreement in November 2006. In addition, they have signed nearly 358 bilateral agreements, memorandums of understanding, joint declarations and various reciprocal arrangements, covering almost all areas of the economy.

He said that since the bilateral trade volume between China and Pakistan is still far below expectations, it will take time and necessary measures to fully implement these agreements.

Munir chairman said that Pakistan has the ability to export various products to China, including agriculture, minerals, chemicals, textiles and leather products.

Moreover, Pakistan has comparative advantages in oilseeds, fruits, inferior metals, plastic products and spices.

He stressed that the government should take more measures to promote the trade relations between Pakistan entrepreneurs and China.

Pakistan should encourage and promote private enterprises to establish joint ventures with China in energy, textile, agriculture, food processing, medicine, engineering supplies and other possible areas.

China can also help Pakistan develop small and medium-sized enterprises and modernize them.

He said that the strategic relationship between China and Pakistan has been established, including the economic corridor, which has set up a good platform for strengthening bilateral relations.

As the international situation continues to change and China plays an important role in the international arena, it is very important for Pakistan to reassess and examine the strengths and challenges of relations with China, so that Pakistan can move forward in a positive direction.
