Wu Pengshan, Vice Minister of Commerce, said that Burmese is trying to develop the garment industry into a pillar industry of the country's economy.

According to statistics from the Burma garment industry association, up to now, there are a total of more than 200 garment enterprises in Burma, and 220 thousand workers in the garment factories. The export volume of Burmese garments accounts for 10-12% of total textile exports.

In 2013, the export of Burmese apparel products was about $1 billion 200 million, 3 times the 2009 US $400 million.

In the next 10 years, exports of garment products will increase to US $10 billion.

It mainly exports to Japan, Korea, the European Union, Germany and China, of which the largest export is Japan, accounting for 48%, followed by South Korea, 33%, and EU third, accounting for 14%.

According to statistics, as of now, enterprises from 20 countries and regions from Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Germany, Japan and South Korea have invested in Burma textile industry, and there are about 300 textile factories.

The Ministry of industry and Commerce of Korea announced the "import and export trends in 2014 (December and full year) and the 2015 import and export outlook" report. The export volume of South Korea in 2014 was US $573 billion 100 million, an increase of 2.4% compared with 2013, and the import volume of US $525 billion 700 million, which also increased by 2% compared with that in 2013. The total trade volume was 1 trillion US dollars, which has exceeded 1 trillion dollars for 4 consecutive years since its accession, and the trade surplus is 47 billion 400 million US dollars.

The annual trade volume, export volume and trade surplus reached a record high. In 2013, they achieved the "Triple Crown" record for 2 consecutive years.

Exports of semiconductors, iron and steel products, wireless communication machines, ships, general machinery, auto parts and automobiles increased by 9.7%, 9.3%, 7.1%, 6.8%, 4.4%, 1.9% and 0.6% respectively in the 13 major export items (January 1st to December 31st) in 2014.

Exports of petrochemicals, textiles, computers, household appliances, petroleum products and liquid crystal devices declined by 0.1%, 0.4%, 0.8%, 2%, 3% and 3.8% respectively.

The main export areas (provisional values of customs statistics from January 1st to December 20th): exports to the US grew by 13%, growth to Oceania 8.7%, growth to the Middle East 7%, growth of EU to 5.5%, growth of ASEAN to 3.9%, and to mainland China, central and South America, Japan and Africa, respectively, 0.5%, 0.9%, 6.9% and 14.1% respectively.
