WeChat payment stakeholders told reporters that the core function of WeChat cross-border payment is to achieve "RMB receivables, settlement of foreign currencies to overseas businesses".

WeChat has already supported 9 currencies, including Sterling, Hong Kong dollar, US dollar, Japanese yen, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, euro, New Zealand dollar and won.
At present, dozens of domestic and foreign institutions including Southern China bank, Royal Australian payment and Hongkong Tongtai have joined WeChat's cross-border payment opening system, covering more than 20 countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Europe, America, Western Asia and Australia, and more partners are joining.
WeChat payment team revealed that 60% of WeChat's active users have WeChat's ability to pay.
