Research On Reuse Of Waste Textiles [Dyeless Textiles]: A New Direction Of Green And Environmental Protection

Dyeless Textile

[Dyeless textile] refers to an environment-friendly textile technology that does not use or reduces the use of dyeing or environmentally friendly waterless and stain free dyeing process in the textile production process, so as to avoid environmental pollution and resource consumption in the dyeing process.

This technology directly adds color to fibers, yarns, fabrics and garments in the spinning stage, so that the textile itself has color, thus avoiding the subsequent dyeing process.

Dyeless textile technology includes liquid dyeing technology and waterless dyeing technology.

The stock solution coloring technology is to add colorants directly to the spinning melt or solution during the polymerization of chemical fibers, so that the fibers will have the required color when they are formed. This method can reduce water consumption and wastewater discharge in dyeing process, reduce energy consumption and production cost, and improve color fastness and uniformity of products.

The anhydrous dyeing technology uses non-aqueous media for dyeing, such as supercritical carbon dioxide dyeing technology, which liquefies carbon dioxide into a fluid medium by pressurizing. In this state, carbon dioxide can be recovered after dyeing is completed and then depressurized. The whole process does not need washing and does not produce waste water.

The development of dyeing free textile technology is not only conducive to environmental protection, but also can improve the market competitiveness of textile products and meet the consumer demand for green and environmentally friendly products. With the progress of technology and the improvement of environmental awareness, dyeing free textile technology is expected to be more widely used in the future.

From another point of view, dyeing free textile can indeed make more use of colored natural fibers, such as colored cotton, colored wool, silk, etc. These natural colored fibers have unique advantages:

  1. Colored cotton: Colored cotton without dyeing is an environment-friendly textile material. It does not need dyeing in the production process, so there is no environmental pollution and resource consumption caused by dyeing process. Colored cotton has natural color, soft color, good permeability and moisture absorption.

  2. Colored wool: Natural colored wool can be produced through specific breeding technology, such as the blue wool sheep bred in Australia. This kind of wool does not need post dyeing. Its color is natural and does not fade after exposure to the sun and rain. It has good wool quality and is friendly to the environment and human body.

  3. Silk: Silk is a natural protein fiber with excellent skin affinity and comfort. The traditional silk weaving techniques of silkworm include the whole process of mulberry planting, silkworm rearing, silk reeling, dyeing and silk weaving, among which silk dyeing is an important link.

Under the concept of dyeing free textile, natural dyes or less dyeing processes can be explored to reduce the impact on the environment.

The use of these natural colored fibers can not only reduce the environmental pollution of the textile industry, but also meet the market demand for environmentally friendly and sustainable products.

In today's green and environmental protection era, the concept of dyeing free textile can indeed be extended to the use of recycled materials, such as old water bottles, old clothes, etc. These materials can be converted into textile raw materials after treatment, and then used to produce new textiles. This recycling method not only reduces the demand for new raw materials, but also reduces waste generation and environmental pollution.

For example, waste plastic bottles can be transformed into recycled polyester staple fibers through sorting, cleaning, drying, melting, spinning and other processes, and then colored without adding color. These fibers can be used to make car interiors, sound-absorbing filter materials, as well as internal fillers for sofas, bedding, etc.

In addition, waste textiles can also be degraded into small molecular polyester materials through chemical decomposition technology, and then re manufactured into new polyester fibers.

In promoting such recycling, some enterprises and organizations are actively exploring. For example, Zhejiang Jiaren New Material Co., Ltd. processes 40000 tons of waste textiles and produces 30000 tons of recycled products annually.

In addition, there are also companies such as Evrnu, which convert old clothes into new high-quality raw materials through its NuCycle program. The water consumption in its manufacturing process is 98% less than that required for raw cotton production, while eliminating 80% of the general pollutant emissions.

This kind of non dyeing textile method using recycled materials not only helps reduce the impact of the textile industry on the environment, but also is an important way to achieve sustainable development.

With the progress of technology and the improvement of environmental awareness, it is expected that this recycling mode will be more widely used in the future.
